ReplyDeleteI have purchased a few in the series written by Shifu Roger Hagood and they are full of photos not only of historical significance but also many of the training concepts are shown illustrated with photos as well.
The photos of the teachers\masters are worth the price of the book itself.
I trained with Master Gin Foon Mark beginning in the summer of 1989 and on through the fall and winter of 1990, before moving away from the Minneapolis area for job related reasons. I learned his basic hands, and footwork, and touched hands with him and a number of his students during that time. I have not forgotten his art, and his hands have continued to inform the way that I approach martial arts training in general ever since I trained with him, regardless of whatever styles I have engaged with. He's a great teacher, and a fine human being, and it is my sincere hope that by accessing Kwangsai Jook Lum material made available by Sifu Roger Hagood and other online materials that I may continue to learn, practice and improve in the tradition of Master Mark's excellent Jook Lum kung fu.
ReplyDeleteThis book is worth it's weight in gold! A veritable goldmine of info that you more than likely will not find anywhere else. If you do, it's only because they took the info out of Sifu Roger's books!
